Actos, which belongs to the same class of drugs as Avandia (Rosiglitazone), was approved in July 1999 by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The popular drug was developed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Patients taking Actos reported many side effects, including an increased risk of Actos bladder cancer. Takeda Pharmaceutical Co., has been accused of releasing the drug without adequate research.
